- The whole day is supported by the Australian Trucking Association, industry and community sponsors
- This is the opportunity for the community to learn how to live with trucks, respect the trucking industry and learn the importance of trucking to the community and the Australian economy
- This is the chance prospective employees get to talk, feel and experience trucking and explore the career opportunities within the industry
- It is a day when all the transport industry participants work together in a mutual spirit of cooperation for common community benefits

Who is behind Newcastle Transport Awareness Day?
- The Newcastle & Hunter Region Road Transport Awareness Day group proudly represents the Australian Trucking Association in promoting this day.
- The group consists of truck drivers, transport businesses, community representatives, NSW Police, RTA, Newcastle Council, media and the generous suppliers to the transport industry.
